Topic: Local Perception of Border Policies (Indo-Myanmar Border)
The Department of Political Science, Government Khawzawl College, conducted a study tour on 24th April 2026 on the topic “Local Perception of Border Policies (Indo-Myanmar Border).” A total of 16 students participated in the study under the guidance of the department.
The study areas included Zokhawthar and Khawmawi, especially the Indo-Myanmar border bridge. The main objective was to understand how border policies affect the daily lives, movement, trade, and social relations of the local people living near the border.
The study used a qualitative method with an unstructured questionnaire. Students conducted personal interviews with local residents to gather their views and experiences regarding border regulations and cross-border interactions.
The findings showed that while border policies help maintain security and order, it also create challenges for local people who depend on cross-border trade and family connections.
As an extension activity, the students also visited Rihdil, which provided additional cultural and geographical learning.
The department is grateful to the Principal for granting the opportunity to conduct this study tour and would also like to thank all the students who actively participated and made the programme successful.
