CLEANLINESS DRIVE AT COLLEGE CAMPUS AND MUALVAWM FIELD
Organized by the NSS Unit, Govt. Khawzawl College
The NSS Unit of Govt. Khawzawl College organized a cleanliness drive at the College Campus and Mualvawm Field on 13 August 2026 with the active participation of NSS volunteers, students, teaching and non-teaching staff. The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting cleanliness, environmental responsibility, community participation, and civic awareness among students.
The cleanliness activity began at the college campus, where volunteers worked together to clean classrooms, office areas, corridors, pathways, gardens, and other surroundings of the college. Participants swept the floors, removed unwanted materials, collected litter, cleared overgrown vegetation, and cleaned areas that required special attention. The activity helped improve the overall appearance and hygiene of the college environment while also encouraging students to take greater responsibility for maintaining their institution.
The NSS volunteers also carried out cleanliness work around Mualvawm Field, an important public and recreational area. The volunteers collected plastic waste, paper, bottles, wrappers, and other discarded materials from the surroundings. They also cleared bushes, dry leaves, and other unwanted materials from the field and its nearby areas. The participation of the volunteers demonstrated the importance of maintaining public spaces and keeping community facilities clean and safe for everyone.
The photographs from the activity clearly show the enthusiastic involvement of the NSS volunteers and students. The volunteers can be seen working in groups, collecting waste, sweeping different areas, cleaning the roadside and field surroundings, and maintaining the college premises. Their coordinated efforts reflect the spirit of “Not Me But You,” the fundamental principle of the NSS.
The cleanliness drive was not merely an activity for removing waste; it also served as an important learning experience for the students. Through active participation, students developed a sense of discipline, teamwork, social responsibility, and concern for the environment. The programme also emphasized that cleanliness is a collective responsibility and that every individual has a role to play in maintaining a clean and healthy community.
The initiative further strengthened the relationship between the college and the wider community. By extending cleanliness activities beyond the college campus to Mualvawm Field, the NSS Unit demonstrated its commitment to community service and social development. Such activities encourage students to become responsible citizens and active contributors to the welfare of society.
Overall, the cleanliness drive at Govt. Khawzawl College Campus and Mualvawm Field was successfully carried out with active participation and dedication. The programme created greater awareness about sanitation, environmental protection, and civic responsibility among the participants. The NSS Unit continues to encourage students to take part in community-oriented activities and contribute towards building a cleaner, greener, healthier, and more responsible society.
