Location: Dungtlang (Khawhmunhlui, Lianchhiari Lunglentlang) and Khawbung (Hlakungpui Mual – Mizo Poets’ Square)
The Department of History, Government Khawzawl College, organized a one-day study tour on 24 April 2026 with the objective of enhancing students’ historical understanding through field exposure to culturally and historically significant sites.
The tour group consisted of eight students accompanied by two teachers. The team traveled in two vehicles. The journey commenced from Taidawnkawn, Khawzawl at approximately 9:15 AM.
The first destination was Dungtlang, where the group visited Khawhmunhlui and Lianchhiari Lunglentlang. These sites hold considerable importance in Mizo history and folklore, offering valuable insights into traditional narratives, indigenous memory, and the socio-cultural landscape of the past. The visit allowed students to engage directly with the physical settings connected to oral traditions and historical accounts.
Following the exploration of Dungtlang, the group proceeded to Khawbung. At Khawbung, the participants visited Hlakungpui Mual, also known as the Mizo Poets’ Square. This site is associated with notable figures in Mizo literary and cultural history, providing students with an understanding of the region’s poetic heritage and intellectual traditions.
After completing the visits, the group had lunch at Khawbung. The tour combined both educational engagement and informal interaction, contributing to a holistic learning experience.
The return journey began in the afternoon, and the group arrived back at Khawzawl at approximately 5:15 PM.
Overall, the study tour was successful in achieving its objectives. It provided students with practical exposure to historical sites, enriched their understanding of Mizo heritage, and fostered a deeper appreciation of local history and cultural identity.
