Basic Carpenter Training Programme Conducted at Government Khawzawl College

Under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, a Basic Carpenter Training Programme was successfully conducted at the Government Khawzawl College Training Centre from 13–21 February 2026.

A total of 30 trainees participated in the programme. 13th  February  2026 (Saturday) was observed as the Zero Day, during which registration and preliminary assessment of the trainees were carried out.

During the training period, trainees were introduced to basic carpentry tools, safety practices, woodwork techniques, and practical carpentry skills. The programme emphasized hands-on training to help participants develop essential skills required for carpentry work.

The Final Assessment was conducted on 21 February 2026 to evaluate the trainees’ understanding and practical competence gained throughout the training period.

The training programme concluded successfully, with enthusiastic participation from all trainees.

This training programme was organized with the objective of enhancing the vocational skills of participants and promoting traditional craftsmanship under the PM Vishwakarma initiative. Through both theoretical instruction and practical demonstrations, trainees were given the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of carpentry work and its applications.

The programme also aimed to empower local artisans and youth by providing them with valuable technical skills that can contribute to self-employment and livelihood opportunities. By participating in the training, the trainees gained confidence in using carpentry tools and applying basic woodworking techniques in real-life situations.

The organizers expressed appreciation to all participants for their active involvement and dedication throughout the training programme. The successful completion of the training reflects the commitment of the training centre to promote skill-based education and community development.

The successful completion of the Basic Carpenter Training Programme highlights the importance of vocational skill development initiatives under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. Such programmes play a vital role in empowering individuals with practical skills that can enhance their employment opportunities and contribute to the socio-economic development of the community. Government Khawzawl College Training Centre remains committed to organizing similar training programmes in the future to support skill development and capacity building among local youth and artisans.
